So, after a spluttering start and then some steady form, Newcastle United finally decided that the Championship is actually a complete walk in the park… a mere 7 games into the season.
On a humid evening in West London, a slightly rotated lineup absolutely mullered Queens Park Rangers in front of a rabid travelling support. Goals from Ayoze Perez, Aleksander Mitrovic, Ciaran Clark, Grant Hanley, and two from Jonjo Shelvey (the second an absolute peach) secured the club’s biggest away win since the 50s.
Pundits and fans alike had talked about Newcastle needing to put a marker down after some thoroughly professional results; it’s safe to say that’s been accomplished now.
